You Can’t Be Neutral on a Moving Train (2004). Our tribute to Howard Zinn, an academic rebel, leader of civil disobedience and influential writer who died on Jan 27, 2010. This film captures the essence of an extraordinary man who was a catalyst for progressive change for more than 60 years. His story offers inspiration and solutions for coping with these turbulent times.

Forbidden Childhood / Vietato Sognare (2008). A special presentation by Amnesty Italy’s 2009 film award winner – director Barbara Cupisti. Her film delves into the emotions and lives of Israeli and Palestinian children in the occupied territories. The clashes, suffering and hopes of young activists are shown, striving to achieve a better life and peaceful future. Don’t miss her!

Inside the Meltdown (2008). This film investigates the causes of the worst economic crisis in 70 years and the $700 billion “bailout”. It examines the downfall of financial institutions and what US government officials didn’t see, couldn’t stop and haven’t been able to fix. Why were financial experts caught off guard? Is a stable recovery likely? How can we ensure a safe fiscal future?

Food, Inc. (2008). In the US, obesity has risen to an alarming state, prompting the White House now to take action. Can it address the root causes of the problem or will real change be hampered by special interests? Shocking truths are revealed by experts lobbying for more rigorous control on what we eat and how it is produced.

Pray the Devil Back to Hell (2008). This story is a testament to the power of community organizing, faith, empowerment, and peaceful protest against steep odds. The women of Liberia campaigned to oust their president and resume stalled peace talks after a devastating civil war. Their action inspired the campaign motto “Peace is Loud”!

Anatomy of Hate (2009). This study of venomous ideologies and acts of hate reveals traits common throughout the world that make us susceptible to hate, but demonstrates equally that we can overcome hatred. Experts examine homophobia, anti-semitism, white supremacy, war atrocities, and Christian and Muslim fundamentalist bigotry.

Age of Stupid (2008). A cautionary tale about climate change, and what will become of our world if we continue to ignore warning signs and do not stop global warming while we still can. Set in 2055, in a world devastated by mankind’s lack of foresight, actor Pete Postlewaite seeks the answer to why we let our planet fall to ruin. Six stories are told from around the world covering hurricane and flood damage, glacial melting, and frustrated anger by those trying to prevent future natural disasters. Let’s not be stupid. Things can be done to foresee and curb climate change.
